Michelle Wong is a Chicago-based performer and educator. Equally at home as a soloist or in an ensemble setting, Michelle has performed and is available for engagement ranging from solo concerts to weddings to collaborating with other talented musicians around the city. Besides that, Michelle also has an extensive experience teaching and coaching ensembles for over 15 years. Her teaching philosophy takes a holistic approach that focuses not only on performance skills, but also music theory, music history, ear training, and improvisation.
Michelle received her Bachelors of Music Degree from Missouri State University and her Masters in Music from the University of Houston, Moores School of Music. Having grown up from the Yamaha Method, she is versed in both Classical and Popular Genres, giving all her students from ages 3 and above, including special needs students, a well rounded and fun piano education. Michelle also teaches violin, composition, song arrangement, voice, as well as learning to sing and play simultaneously. She also has successfully prepared competitive students for many state and internationally recognized competitions and examinations including the Illinois Achievement in Music Program (AIM), Sonata-Sonatina Festival, the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM), the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), and the Trinity College of London Exam. She is also fluent in Mandarin and Malay.
